Serious thinking. Practical implementation.
ProgressAmp is a productivity system improvement partner for complex construction and infrastructure environments. We help organisations understand what is really happening, why it is happening and what the system needs to do differently.
Our work combines practical delivery experience with systems thinking, Lean, Agile, complexity science, human behaviour and organisational change.
Why ProgressAmp exists
Construction does not lack capable people, processes, plans or technology. The difficulty is that these parts often fail to work together as a coherent system.
The systems intended to connect fragmented and distracted roles do not always flow. People are left to compensate through additional effort, repeated meetings, escalation and recovery.
ProgressAmp was established to help organisations understand these conditions, design something better and make the change work in practice.
Our founders
Phil Hendy
Phil brings deep experience in project delivery, Lean implementation, planning and team development.
He focuses on making improvement practical: working alongside leaders and delivery teams to embed new routines, strengthen capability and improve everyday performance.
Phil leads ProgressAmp's implementation, coaching and delivery support.
Jared Chesterman
Jared brings more than 25 years of experience across complex construction, infrastructure and design environments.
He focuses on understanding the wider system: how work, information, decisions, organisations and human behaviour interact to shape performance.
Jared leads ProgressAmp's system diagnosis, solution architecture, research and product development.
Complementary perspectives
Together, Jared and Phil combine more than 50 years of construction, consulting and improvement experience.
- Jared helps reveal and shape the wider system.
- Phil helps make change work within the reality of delivery.
ProgressAmp brings both perspectives together - from understanding the problem through to implementing the response.
Experience that grounds our work
Our combined 50 years of experience spans:
- Major construction and infrastructure environments
- Strategy, design, planning and delivery
- Client, consultant and contractor perspectives
- Project, organisational and industry-level improvement
- Practical implementation within live delivery environments
- Research, learning and capability development
This uniquely broad experience helps us connect strategic ambition with the practical conditions required to deliver it.
Our delivery ecosystem
We deliver with the best of local and international specialists
ProgressAmp combines a focused core team with a trusted network of delivery specialists, Lean practitioners, coaches, researchers and technology partners. This allows us to assemble the capability required by each situation while maintaining a consistent approach, quality standard and level of oversight.
Our ecosystem can expand around the needs of a project, organisation or broader transformation - without losing the direct involvement of ProgressAmp's leadership.
What keeps us aligned
Values matter most when they make the easy choice unavailable.
These principles define the kind of partner ProgressAmp intends to be - particularly when improving the system becomes commercially, politically or operationally difficult.
System improvement over local optimisation
We will deliver the immediate outcome a client needs, but not knowingly at the expense of the wider system that produces it. We solve today's problem without losing sight of what may create tomorrow's.
People and sustainable performance over extracting more effort
Productivity should come from better systems, clearer information, stronger coordination, reduced friction and better decisions—not simply from asking people to work harder. We improve performance by improving the conditions under which people perform.
Truth over comfort
We will tell clients and each other what the evidence indicates, including when it is inconvenient. We challenge the problem, not the status of the person presenting it.
Partnership over appeasement
Serving a client does not mean automatically agreeing with the most powerful person in the room. We work with clients, not simply for them—combining our understanding of systems and improvement with their knowledge of their organisation, environment and work.
Long-term capability over short-term dependency
Our work should leave people and organisations more capable of solving problems themselves. Success means we have not simply solved a problem. We have strengthened the client's ability to solve that class of problem again.
Learning over protecting the method
We defend principles strongly but methods lightly. We use methods because they help solve the problem - not because the method is the product we need to sell.
Sustainable change over performative transformation
We prefer incremental change that survives to ambitious change that disappears when attention moves elsewhere. We establish the wider direction, then change the system through practical interventions within real delivery.
Commitments over promises
We will not use systems thinking, complexity or uncertainty as an excuse for poor delivery. We think deeply, but we also accept responsibility for helping make something work.
Together, our values define the ProgressAmp difference. We look beyond the immediate symptom, maintain intellectual independence, work in genuine partnership and help clients create systems they can increasingly operate and improve themselves.
